Moon rise

Moon rise
This photograph was taken this afternoon. I used software to calculate what time the moon would rise but unfortunately it had been foggy all day and I wasn't sure if it would lift. By the time this was taken the moon was clearly visible and this picture is the result.

Twilight

After a few days of winter weather I was finally able to take this dramatic sunset picture. This was taken using EOS1 DS mark2 with a zoom Canon 70-200 2.8L IS and a Canon extender 1.4.

Simple sunset

This picture was taken this afternoon about 10 kilometres from my home. The difficulty is that
it's very flat here and I needed something to add interest to the photograph. This pylon worked perfectly. I will submit this to my agency and hope they can use it for editorial work.

Opportunities

This afternoon while, I was working at home, I noticed the sun had appeared after a dull December day and took the opportunity to walk out to the fields near my home and take this beautiful sunset picture. To make the photograph better I gave it an element. I included the electricity pylon and this can hopefully be used for my stock agency for an editorial.

Shooting RAW

Last week, I had a friend who showed me pictures he took of his holiday in South Africa. Following my advice he set his camera to RAW instead of JPEG which provides many controls when he develops them later. The problem is, when he converted the pictures from RAW to JPEG, he didn't apply any adjustments and optimisation that can enhance the photographs.

Here is an example.

The first picture is only converted from RAW without any control straight out of the camera.
The second has been converted with all the adjustments and optimisation.
Which one do you prefer?

A little about me

Night pictures are my one of my passions in photography. These three pictures were taken in London recently on a cold November night.

I have worked as a professional photographer for eight years, first for a stock agency in Paris and then as a wedding photographer. Also, I have taken sports pictures from skiing, high in the Alps to equestrian events in the home counties.

Well, that's a little about me. Now for my pictures...
